SUMMARY:Concert Across America to End Gun Violence
DESCRIPTION:In 2007\, Congress designated September 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. Two out of every three victims are killed with a firearm\, but the day of “remembrance” is the only thing Congress has done to acknowledge this loss.\nThe first annual Concert Across America to End Gun Violence took place on this day\, but this year we will have musical events on Sunday\, September 24\, followed by a Day of Action on September 25. We must be respectful of what this day stands for\, while demanding that Congress mandates a background check for every gun sale. \nTo make the concept work for all of our faith-based and international partners\, we’ve expanded to include Sept. 21 (International Peace Day) as well as the 23rd. We encourage all of our new international partners to participate by joining us in singing “Nothing More\,” a song of love and peace. \nWe thought that this was a perfect time to hold our event\, coinciding with these two important days. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:For the 5th time\, 26 cyclists will ride to honor the 26 killed at the Sandy Hook School and all victims of gun violence\, to raise awareness of the public health crisis of gun violence\, and to support common sense measures to reduce it. \n​This time\, we will ride from the Capitol in Washington\, D.C. to Sandy Hook\, CT. We will leave the Capitol on May 4th and ride towards and through states that are actually working to reduce gun violence. Until members of Congress do their jobs and pass laws to make Americans safer instead of offering thoughts and prayers for victims\, we will ride with the Congress at our backs.
